I have searched many different sources to find and verify the scope and purpose of the projects and this is what I found. Basically, they are divided into 2 different projects. One is centered around the East Valley Multipurpose Center. This will create 3 new buildings and improve the parking, landscape and surrounding areas to create a state of the art facility. This is scheduled to be completed in the begining of 2011. The other project addresses the soccer fields and many other atheletic facilities at the park. Below I have summarized some of the information about the Multipurpose Center Project. I have also notice that they are working on the Picnic Pavillion at the Far South East corner of the park. I hope they are repairing or replacing thos rather thn just removing them. We will have to see as time goes by.
The following is a general list of the improvements for VNSO park, located at 14201 W. Huston St, Los Angeles CA 91423: Re-grade existing soccer field area to minimize existing grade changes and to maximize the usable play area; Replace existing irrigation system for the soccer fields with new smart irrigation system; Replace boards at two baseball backstops; Remove concrete block walls and benches at dugouts (two fields); Construct shade roof at dugouts (two fields); Replace existing metal and wood bleachers with new aluminum bleachers at four fields; Lawn repair throughout re-graded area , as well as where damaged by constructionYou can check out this site for other information:LA Business Assistance Virtual NetworkSoccer Field Construction at VNSO Park in Sherman Oaks
